Benefits of Massage Therapy

TREATMENT TECHNIQUES

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage techniques involve the therapist using their hands, forearms and elbows to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Deep tissue massage techniques vary in depth, rate and rhythm. You and your therapist will work together to create a session that addresses your pressure requirements and comfort level.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is an uninterrupted 3 dimensional web of connective tissue that extends from head to toe, and front to back. It is located between the skin and the underlying muscles, the muscles themselves, and around bones and organs. Myofascial release allows the connective tissue fibres of fascia to re-organize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion. The goal is to release fascial restrictions thereby restoring tissue health, increasing range of motion and eliminating pain. This technique is typically performed with no lotion or oil.

Swedish Massage

One of the most familiar massage techniques, Swedish massage is characterized by the use of long, fluid, flowing strokes. Swedish massage is effective in increasing circulation and uses rhythmical strokes to promote a deep relaxation effect.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are characterized as hyper-irritable spots located within a “taut band” of muscle tissue. These local points of tenderness frequently radiate to broader areas. Applying pressure to specific points releases the contraction of trigger points, restores the normal resting length of muscles and eliminates referral pain.
